What Happened to BeautiControl? My Journey Then—and Now

Here we are in a new chapter of my journey—one I didn’t fully expect, but one that reflects what has always mattered most to me: offering clean, high-quality skincare and cosmetics to my clients.

In 2024, TrūAura began discontinuing their clean color cosmetic line. That simply wasn’t going to work for my clients—or for me. So, once again, the search began for products I could truly trust on my own skin and confidently recommend.

One thing has remained consistent through every transition: my respect for Gary Jones as a trusted source of knowledge in skincare and cosmetic ingredients. When exploring new options, Gary mentioned a few companies committed to clean color formulations—and Crunchi stood out.

Adding Crunchi to my offerings felt like a natural progression. I’ve never been tied to a brand—I’m committed to results, integrity, and ingredients I believe in. This next step allows me to continue serving my clients with products that align with those values.

The fact that more than 16 years after BeautiControl closed, people are still asking what happened is a true testament to how exceptional those products were.

A Personal Story of Loss and Change

The closure of BeautiControl came during one of the most emotional seasons of my life.

Although the announcement was made on July 20, 2017, I was focused on caring for my elderly mother and didn’t immediately hear the news.

That same week, Jim and I were planning a quiet picnic to celebrate our 44th wedding anniversary. We coordinated with the care center to ensure Mom would be well cared for while we took a little time together.

Then, early Monday morning, everything changed.

Within an hour of my arrival, my mother passed away on July 24, 2017. It was completely unexpected—she had been joking with the nurses the evening before. It truly felt as though she had waited for us to celebrate before letting go.

The very next day, while still processing that loss, I learned that BeautiControl was closing. Just like that, both my personal world and my business shifted overnight.  BeautiControl officially closed its doors on August 31, 2017.

Why BeautiControl Products Were So Loved

One of the biggest reasons I became a BeautiControl consultant was the quality of the products.

As someone with very sensitive skin, I’ve always been selective about ingredients. BeautiControl consistently delivered formulas my skin loved. Even as branding and packaging evolved over the years, the quality never wavered.

We had:

• A wide variety of products
• Beautiful, thoughtful packaging
• Formulas that truly performed

A major force behind that success was Gary Jones, the brilliant mind leading product development.

The End of an Era

At the time of its closure, BeautiControl had:

• Been in business for 35 years
• Hundreds of corporate employees
• 400 Directors
• 50,000 consultants

But beyond the numbers, what I remember most are the relationships—my “spa sisters” and the friendships that continue to this day.

A New Beginning with TrūAura Beauty

As one chapter closed, another opened.

In December 2017, I qualified to become a founding consultant with TrūAura Beauty—one of only 500 selected (out of 5,000 who wanted to attend).

Thanks to the loyalty and trust of my amazing clients, I was able to step into this new opportunity with confidence. Many followed me because they trusted both my recommendations and Gary Jones’ continued innovation.

From 2018 onward, TrūAura introduced clean skincare focused on:

• Prebiotics and probiotics
• Supporting the skin’s microbiome
• Gentle yet effective ingredients

It was incredibly rewarding to see clients fall in love with their results all over again.

Can You Still Buy BeautiControl Products?

BeautiControl products are no longer available and if you do find some, the shelf-life has since expired many years ago—but the philosophy behind them lives on.

Gary Jones continued his work by developing new skincare lines that emphasize:

• Clean, safe ingredients
• Effective anti-aging ingredients
• Microbiome-friendly formulations

Moving Forward—Together

I’m deeply grateful for every client who has trusted me over the years—from BeautiControl to TrūAura.  Gary Jones has stepped back from TruAura Beauty and now we enter into this new chapter with Crunchi skincare & makeup.
